Tungnath Temple

Perched at a height of 3,600 meters, Tungnath temple is the highest Shiva shrine in the world. One has to partake in a 4km uphill trek from Chopta which takes trekkers along the ridge amidst lush greenery along with spellbinding view so the snow covered Himalayan peaks such as the mighty Chaukhamba, Nanda Devi, Trisul and Bandarpunch. The Tungnath temple is one the famed Panch Kedar temples dedicated to Lord Shiva in Uttarakhand.

Chandrashila

Just 400 meters from the Tungnath shrine, lays Chandrashila which is actually the summit of mountain Tungnath is perched on. The height of Chandrashila summit is about 4,000 meters. Travelers visiting Chandrashila makes sure to travel to Chandrashila as it offers spellbinding 360 degree view of surrounding Himalayan Mountains. The trek to Chandrashila is not difficult and can be easily completed.

Deoriyatal

Deoriyatal or Devariyatal is a high altitude lake situated near Chopta. Literally meaning ‘Lake of the Gods’, Deoriyatal is known for its spellbinding beauty which complements the scenic landscape. The majestic Chaukhamba peaks along with other Himalayan mastiffs reflect in the pristine waters of the lake. It is a popular camping spot which attracts lot of young travelers from Delhi and NCR. 

Meadows (Bugyals)

One of the most striking features at Chopta is the lush green meadows, which are high altitude alpine grasslands. These meadows cover the entire region making it ideal spot for camping with family and friends. These bugyals can be reached by easy and accessible treks. One can sit and relax in the lush green meadows and enjoy the majestic view of the valley as well as the mountains from there.
